Marie sighs and places her book on the table. No use reading, not with that loud group of friends talking in the middle of the coffee house. At least a few of them are there every day and somehow always get the couch and comfy chairs.
Marie opens her book, but can’t help but give the group her undivided attention. The tall one rambles on about his recent divorce. The waitress sits with them, ignoring her duties. She won’t get fired. The manager is clearly obsessed with her. The sarcastic guy makes a corny joke. Marie lets a smile slip.
